Oslo Fjord

Countless hours driving, numb feet and shivering body. Every mid-winter swim in the Oslo fjord leaves a mark. The waves around here rarely come alive. When they do, it’s usually on few hours notice, as wind charts suddenly shift pattern and the tides align. I’ve spent the past winters documenting Joel Stevenson in his search for waves. Water photography here is a real joy with adrenaline keeping the cold temperatures at bay. Using a small boat and always accompanied by Picasso, his dog, Joel is constantly pushing the limit of cold water surfing in these waters. Most times he’s out there by himself.
